target="_blank" moz-do-not-send="true">UMALCA</a>), to be held on Wednesday April 30 at 9 am PDT, 10 am México City, 12pm EST, Santiago de Chile, 13 Argentina, Uruguay, Brasilia, 17 UK, 18 Western Europe, etc. Our speaker will be <a

<div
style="margin: 0px; text-indent: 0px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><i>Abstract: We study stratifications of regions in the space of symmetric matrices. These arise in particle physics and are related to matroids and Lorentzian polynomials. We characterize the kinematic strata, for massless and massive particles, with and without momentum conservation. This is recent work with Veronica Calvo and Hadleigh Frost (arXiv:2503.09571)..</i></div>

style="margin: 0px; text-indent: 0px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Bernd is the Director of the vibrant Nonlinear Algebra group at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, Leipzig, Germany, and Professor Emeritus in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, University of California at Berkeley. He coauthored more than 300 publications, directed 65 PhD thesis (+ 9 current) and has 192 descendants. His research interests include Algebraic Geometry, Combinatorics, Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Statistics, Convex Optimization, Computational Biology, and Theoretical Physics.</div>
