[Investigadores] Nuevos investigadores CMM

Hola a todos:

Es un honor y un placer ser parte de este grupo de investigadores. Quiero agradecer especialmente a Alejandro y Héctor por hacer esto posible.

Mi historia con el CMM comenzó en 2009, cuando, motivado por el proyecto genómico del salmón y mi interés por entender la complejidad de los genomas, me uní como estudiante de pregrado de Ingeniería en Biotecnología Molecular al grupo de Alejandro Maass. Fue allí donde desarrollé y perfeccioné mis habilidades en biología computacional, culminando con una tesis sobre la identificación de regiones duplicadas en el genoma del salmón utilizando algoritmos evolutivos.

Gracias a esta experiencia, obtuve una beca para realizar un doctorado en Barcelona, donde me integré al grupo del profesor Ossowski en el Centre de Regulació Genòmica. Allí me dediqué a estudiar la complejidad del genoma del cáncer. Tras completar mi tesis sobre la evolución del cancer, me vine al Institute of Cancer Research de Londres (ICR) como  Marie Curie Postdoc, trabajando en el laboratorio del Prof. Andrea Sottoriva. En esta etapa, me enfoqué en el estudio del sistema inmunológico y su impacto en la evolución del cáncer.

Actualmente, soy investigador principal (PI) del grupo de Evolutionary Immunogenomics, y me enorgullece haber concretado de manera más oficial mi conexión con Chile, algo que siempre he valorado profundamente.

Mi principal objetivo es establecer colaboraciones, apoyar a estudiantes, co-supervisar tesis, impartir charlas y cursos, y contribuir en todo lo posible para mantener los lazos científicos que impulsen el desarrollo de los estudiantes y, a largo plazo, de mi querido país.
