Specific fields of interest include randomized methods in huge-scale optimization, in numerical linear algebra, in compressed sensing, in game theory, in graph clustering, in computational statistics or in statistical learning theory. The position will represent a further bridge between the Faculty of Mathematics and the Research Platform “Data Science @ Uni Vienna” and contribute to the creation and development of mathematical foundations for data science. Furthermore, it will collaborate with research groups doing fundamental research in data science, in fields like data analysis, algorithmic design, statistics and computer science, but also with those developing practical applications based on data science techniques.
